Puisque tout le monde, nous compris, semble s’accorder sur le fait que les films sont de plus en plus longs, nous avons voulu savoir dans quelles proportions ils s’étaient allongés. Dans ce but, nous avons reconstitué une base de données de quelque 12 000 films sortis en France entre janvier 1950 et début septembre 2022, et ayant obtenu un certain succès – seuil que nous avons fixé à 250 000 entrées. Le résultat nous a surpris : contrairement à notre intuition, la durée moyenne des films est très stable ces dernières années, de l’ordre de 105 à 115 minutes.
